Barcelona and Ronald Koeman are negotiating so that the club, who are going through a difficult economic situation, do not have to pay the Dutchman the 12 million euros he is owed in redundancy pay. 'SER Catalunya' reports this while there are rumours that Xavi Hernandez could become the Barca coach at the beginning of November.
Four million euros separate the two parties from reaching an agreement because the board led by Joan Laporta are trying to offer him eight. Initially, Koeman's lawyers hold the upper hand because the dismissal was sacked in line with employment law.
However, if the Barca board insist, they may not have to pay 100% of what the coach is owed. That depends on whether Koeman accepts not to receive part of his salary. However, Koeman is reportedly not in favour of this.
It is worth remembering that Ronald Koeman was sacked on the same night Barcelona lost 1-0 away to Rayo Vallecano. The team had just lost 'El Clasico' in a game which saw them lack quality going forward and then losing to a smaller club was the final straw.
